Snapchat’s latest feature “Snap Map” lets you share your location with your Snapchat friends, and view their location on a map, updating when you open the photo messaging app.
The new feature will be available as update released on 22nd June to all iOS and Android Snapchat users across the globe. You will be able to see exactly where your Snapchat friends are hanging out and what they are doing there if they have shared it as a story.
Snapchat released the update saying ‘We’ve built a whole new way to explore the world! See what’s happening, find your friends, and get inspired to go on an adventure!’ on their blog.

How to use Snap Map?
All you have to do is access your camera – beware of front facing camera syndrome. Pinch the screen, or do a zoom out touch motion with your fingers, and you can view the Snap Map.
You can view the map and allow friends to see your location, and story if you have posted one at the location you took it.
Alternatively you can search the map in ‘Ghost mode’ – when this is enabled your friends will not be able to see your location, but you can see theirs.
So full stalker mode.
You can also upload Snaps to ‘Our Story’ and these will then be available for the public to watch based on the location where they were uploaded.
Once your friends are sharing their location with you, you will see their Actionmoji (Bitmoji) on the Map.

Features of Snap Map!
As always Snapchat has prepared for that annoying ex, over-friendly boss, or technology savvy mother by providing options so that you can choose which friends you want to share your location with, and which friends you don’t.
You will automatically go in ‘Ghost mode’ if you stay inactive on the app for a couple of hours. Of course, the feature doesn’t work unless you have your location sharing settings on. It helps in saving your phone’s battery by not constantly using location services.
Snap Map feature lets you spy on your Snapchat friends around the world and lets you tune into events going on based on location.
You can see different areas of activity almost like a heat map on the app (red indicating highest activity) and click to see the stories uploaded by people in that area, it shows an event or something happening that you might want to tune into.
A bunch of story content on the snap map titled ‘Featured’ means it was created by the snapchat team and represents a large planned event, and these are the types of stories that appear in the regular ‘Discover’ section.
This update was not complete idea of CEO Evan Spiegal, but it’s the result of Snapchat’s secret purchase of social map app Zenly for $250 million to $350 million!
Now that you know everything about Snapchat’s new feature, i’m sure you’re dying to try it out, ‘Happy Snapping!’
