Samsung despite of being the world’s largest OLED manufacturer wants to push the boundaries further.
Samsung is planning to establish a new production facility. By doing so, production capacity of A3 plant in China will boost up by 30 percent. The new factory can be named A5 and is expected to be established in Korea.
According to Sammobile, Samsung will finalize its investment plans for its new OLED factory next month. If Samsung starts building its new factory after June this year, it will take up to a year to build it. And the production could start in early 2019.
Samsung is going to invest nearly 14 billion USD for the establishment of its new venture. The company has plans to keep investing in this plant upto 2021. There are two phases fo developing this OLED plant. Earlier, Samsung started expanding its A3 plant for increasing the supply of OLED panels to Apple for its new iPhone 8.
Samsung currently captures 98 percent of market in small and medium sized OLED panels. In OLED market, production cost decreases as the yield increases. So, Samsung has a greater advantage in this factory. Samsung will be able to make better OLED panels at a very low price.
