Motorola has been a pioneer in redefining the android experience. The Moto G series brings in innovation in the mid range phones. But this time moto which now is a subsidiary of Lenovo brings in a new idea of future proof phones which would be easily customization through the modules which are available, which in turn will enhance the performance and will stretch to the maximum limits of the phone.
Motorola recently introduced two new flagship models The MOTO Z and MOTO Z FORCE. These phones bring in a totally new concept of customization. We will be able to attach modular add-ons with the moto z.
Ample amount of changes are noticed in the hardware of moto z as compared to the other moto phones such as moto x and moto g. An enhanced camera and good battery are one of the primary features which catch the attention.
It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad core processor with a clock speed of 2.2 GHz and an Adreno 530 GPU
Moto Z will be operating on the latest Android 6.0.1 MARSHMALLOW with the upcoming updated guaranteed.
4 GB LPDDR4 RAM.
It comes in two variants of 32 and 64 GB with an expandable storage of upto 2TB.
There is a 5.5” Quad HD display (2560*1440) with a gorilla glass on the front as well aback on the phone.
153.3 x 75.3 x 5.19 mm and a weight of 136 gsm.
Moto z comes with a battery of 2600 mAh which is way too less as compared with the other flagship models. But need not to worry, as the moto mods come in with an extra battery capacity which in turn provides ample amount of charge to the phone.
5MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture. It is having 8x digital zoom and can shoot 4K @ 30fps and a 1080p @ 60fps.
Moreover to these primary specs, there are many more.
Moto Z has a front and back glass body. There are small pins at the rear with a tiny strong magnet whose function is to synchronize the detachable moto mods with the phone. Even the camera comes in with a pretty large bump which helps the note mods to stay in place, but without the moto mods, the camera bump looks a bit annoying.
A major change in the hardware which was noticed is that moto has eliminated the 3.5mm audio jack. YES!! Seems like moto took the rumours of iPhone 7 with a no audio jack pretty seriously. But the company provides an in the box USB C to AUX converter so no worries about replacing your old expensive headphones. Along with this, it also eliminated the speaker. Now moto Z comes in only with one speaker which is at the earpiece of the phone.
Though the speakers are removed, there are a lot of moto mods available by which you can get rid of that issue.
The moto mods are modular add-ons which an be connected to the moto Z just by placing them on the back of the phone and they rest there with the help of a tiny powerful magnet and the camera bump’s support.Various moto mods are available in the market each include the back cases, external power banks and speaker mods by JBL, the projector mods, and many more.
In future more third party mods will be available, these can include a mod with extra battery and an AUX port or a lens mod which enhances the focus of the rear camera.
Along with moto Z, the moto Z force is also introduced which has almost same specifications as moto z but it has a larger screen size and is more thick comparatively. The USP of moto z force is that it will come with shatter proof glass.
Moto has arrived this time with a totally new concept of customisation using add-ons, lets see how it will affect the future of other flagships, this concept of customisation will be seen being adopted by other brands too.
